History of SCP

Senior Citizen Program, Inc. was founded in 1996 under the leadership of Ms. Raj Razdan who was then serving as a Director of the Indian American Cultural Association, IACA, Board. Then IACA Chairman of Board of Directors, Mr. Vikas Verma inspired and entrusted her with the launching of the SCP, which has now blossomed into a very vibrant independent program incorporated in the State of Georgia, USA and is a Federal tax-exempt 501-c-3 entity with the EIN # 20-5419031 qualified (please check with your accountant) Donations to SCP are tax deductible.

The Programs

Senior Citizen Program (SCP) is dedicated to fostering fraternity among seniors through frequent social get-togethers, feeling of camaraderie, important presentations for the health and welfare of seniors, lunches, dinners, health fairs, yoga, meditation classes, picnics and various musical and performing arts entertainment programs. SCP advances the importance and significant aspects of the seniors of our community in their senior years, courtesy of dedicated volunteers and committed sponsors. Philanthropic community members invariably sponsor all events.

Growth and Journey

The first program attracted a small group of 20-30 members. Subsequently, in 2022, SCP is a robust organization with over 600 seniors in its database. SCP has been celebrating Mata Ki Chowki,Valentines Day, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Independence Day (both July 4 and August 15 respectively), Diwali, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year, etc. over the years. SCP has a program every month. With the generous support of numerous donors, sponsors, participants, restaurants and dedicated volunteers, SCP forged ahead along with the involvement and enthusiasm of the seniors-uplifting all involved!

For SCP, it has been an exhilarating walk down the road for the past quarter century. The journey continues with an upbeat spirit, as we get ready, God willing, for the silver/gold jubilee and many more celebrations!
